Mr. Rupin Vadera Honoured at the Inauguration of AUM Crematorium

By admin_lifeline

Built by the Hindu community, for everyone

While the project addresses an important need within the Hindu community, the AUM Crematorium has deliberately been created to serve people of all faiths.

For Mr. Vadera, this was one of the aspects of the project that made it particularly meaningful.

The facility has been thoughtfully designed to allow families to observe their own traditions and rituals during Antim Sanskar, rather than requiring them to compromise practices that carry deep religious and cultural significance.

Anoopam Mission has also reached beyond Hindu organisations, inviting institutions from other faiths to place their own sacred symbols, deities and photographs within the facility. Families will therefore be able to use the space while continuing to observe their own traditions and beliefs.

As Mr. Vadera reflected during his address:

“It is one thing to say, ‘Everyone is welcome and accommodate them.’ It is another thing to truly mean it.”

For him, this is what makes the AUM Crematorium an important example of genuine inclusiveness.

A contribution beyond one community

The project’s impact also extends beyond the people who will use the facility.

Anoopam Mission has pledged to donate the profits generated by the crematorium to other charitable causes. This means that the benefits of the project will reach far beyond its immediate purpose and the communities it directly serves.

For Mr. Vadera, this represents an important opportunity for the Hindu community to give back to the wider society that had offered the opportunities for the Hindu community to prosper.

The project also demonstrates what can be achieved when different Hindu organisations and members of the wider community come together around a shared purpose. In his address, Mr. Vadera reflected on the importance of turning conversations about community unity into meaningful interaction and collective action.

A personal journey of service

Mr. Vadera’s connection to the project is also rooted in his own journey of service.

He spoke of his first meeting with Pujya Swami Chinmayananda, which he describes as an encounter that transformed his life—bringing clarity to his thinking, giving him a vision and helping shape the direction of his life.

Through his continuing involvement with the Chinmaya Mission, he came to understand service as an important part of that journey.

As the Chinmaya Mission marks its 75th year, Mr. Vadera accepted the honour from Anoopam Mission as a small offering at the feet of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda.

He recalled a principle he had been taught through his association with Swami Chinmayananda:

“Be a positive contributor to society.”

For Mr. Vadera, the AUM Crematorium has provided an opportunity to put that principle into practice.

He expressed his gratitude to Anoopam Mission, Pujya Sahebji and the many volunteers whose dedication and seva have made the project possible, describing his involvement not simply as a contribution, but as a privilege and an opportunity to serve.

He also reflected on a teaching that has remained with him:

“His Grace is always with us. We just have to recognise it. Allow it to flow through us in service to everyone around us.”

A shared vision of service

Mr. Vadera and his family contributed towards the AUM Crematorium, reflecting their commitment to initiatives that strengthen communities, preserve dignity and create wider social impact.

The AUM Crematorium represents more than the creation of a new facility. It is an example of a community coming together around a shared vision, preserving the traditions that matter to its members while opening its doors to others.

Lifelines International congratulates Anoopam Mission UK, Pujya Sahebji and all those involved in the project on bringing this extraordinary vision to fruition.
